Basic rights. A basic right is a right on which other rights are derived. A basic right is a right not to be treated as the property of others, not to be exploited or intensionally harmed, caused pain, suffering or distress.
Sentience. Sentience refers, for our purposes, most minimally, to the capability of experiencing sensation, being able to experience pain, pleasure and other sensations.
Speciesism. Unjust discrimination based on species membership.
